Excellent service and fantastic food with a lovely view. Fishcakes (with beef dripping chips!) and fish finger sandwich are both highly recommended. Great way to end a lovely walk to Dunstanburgh Castle and Embleton Bay.

Staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The famous crab sandwich was tasteless, the crab was completely overpowered by the bread used. Scampi was mediocre at best, disappointing. Beer good and the hot chocolate brownie was excellent.

Beautiful waitresses, beautiful arena, beautiful town, beautiful food, beautiful scenery. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely come back at some point.

Was so excited to revisit this lovely pub but was very disappointed with the famous crab sandwich. The bread was really dry and the crab meat spread very sparingly. Despite this, lovely staff and atmosphere. Sorry

We arrived without a reservation and they managed to squeeze us in for lunch. Excellent service. Fabulous crab sandwiches and ploughman's.

A lovely gastro pub. The food was delicious and served beautifully. I am not very keen on seafood but I got converted on our trip. The crab soup was simply delicious and my husband really enjoyed the moules. As for the fish platter, it was interesting and had seafood I had not tasted before.
Unfortunately it was dark so we had no view of the coast until we went outside. The place was busy so I advise people to book a table.

Popped in for a drink and cake during February when the weather outside was cold and damp. Lovely open fire inside so nice and cozy. Friendly service and tasty cakes. Better inside than it looks outside.

Had a wonderful meal. Sat in the dog friendly bar. Very accommodating for dogs with a lovely fire on a very cold day. Great service & lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!

A cold Wednesday lunchtime in January and the restaurant was full. The bar was warm,inviting and dog friendly and we had a superb meal and booked the restaurant for Thursday.
Can't choose ? Have the fish platter as you get a bit of everything.The mussels were so soft and sweet and the smoked salmon was the best I've ever tasted!
I could gave eaten the crab toast all day- great balance of crab,cheese and jalapeños.
No room for dessert unfortunately.
Do not miss a meal here, or a visit to the smokery opposite the pub.
PS the view from the restaurant alone is worth the visit 😁.

Excellent lunch following a walk to Dunstanburgh Castle. The Whitby scampi was the best I’ve had and I wish they’d sell their homemade tartare sauce because it’s amazing! The crab sandwich went down very well as well. Friendly service. We will definitely be back :)
