Gemütliches Pub-Restaurant in Doncaster

Not a fan of the carvery here.. meat is undercooked and fatty.. Yorkshire Puddings are overcooked and tastes like they are frozen!

Everything was as it should be except the host, who made it perfectly clear he was not impressed that we hadnt booked a table. Then proceeded to show us to one of at least 9 empty tables, none of which were used throughout our stay.

Typical Toby in terms of food, ideal place for dinners and breakfast. Staff here are fantastic. Service is fantastic. Come for breakfast with my family almost weekly and they're brilliant. Special mention to Tracy who usually deals with us and is fantastic with my son and always wonderful and friendly. Rest of staff always been fab too and willing to go above and beyond.

Our waitress was really nice and efficient cannot remember her name, I would give her 5 stars. The service from the carver is the reason for my drop in stars. I asked for beef and lamb and it was the end of the beef joint, as he was cutting the beef, it looked tender, however as I moved up the queue the end peice of beef put on my plate looked grissly so I asked him to change it for another peice, which he did, I didn't think it looked much better and when I started to eat it I realised the second piece of beef was just the same, hence then only having a slice of lamb and a bit of beef to eat. I didn't tell the waitress as she was busy and quite honestly complaining spoils the whole dining experience. I felt like I'd " complained" once about the beef and given the chef the opportunity to put something right which he failed to do. On the way out I passed the manager on duty and decided to bring it to her attention, pointing out my plate on the table I had just left, her reaction wasn't great as she just looked at me and didn't make any comment, so for the second time my complaint wasn't addressed. I dined on Sunday 16th January at 3pm. I have a photo but cannot see how to post it on here.

Arrived and sat down this morning at 10.30am (breakfast finishes at 11) only thing out was a few sausage 2 eggs yorkshire puds and some hash browns that looked like they'd been cooked with a hairdryer my son cooked his ones in the toaster! and tomatoes, by the time I'd gotten to the front of the que there was only tomatoes and Yorkshire puds left, asked repeatedly for some things putting out, chef then came and started clearing up rather than putting food out, he then brought out 4 nearly raw sausages(not the same nice sausages they usually serve either) and then left, 3 of us had toast and tomatoes and 1 managed to fight for some bacon! Absolutely not acceptable he looked like he didn't care what he was serving folk or even if they got anything! Won't actually come here again now and we have been coming for donkeys years for both breakfasts and lunches was like a bunch of seagulls fighting for chips

We visited the Toby Carvery early on a Monday evening. There weren't many people around, so in terms of atmosphere there wasn't lots to be had, but what more than made up for that was our server, Angela. She could not have been more friendly and attentive and made the whole thing a lovely experience for us, so thank you very much Angela, you were really great!

To have carvery in your name is blasphemy, I wouldn’t feed them gut wrenching mashed potatoes to my dear poochie let alone those bullets you served as “pee’s”. Allas I can look forward to my pudding! To my demise they’ve served me with a sticky toffee pudding in the shape of a poorly made, lacklustre imposter muffin cloaked by toffee drizzle to suppress the fact it’s NOT what i ordered!!

Although I enjoy a carvery with a choice of four meats a Yorkshire pud and mash two types of roasties and about six types of veg gravy and condiments I have to say that the cooking of it all is inconsistent as it all becomes dried out on the servery all the veg is changed frequently so it's just a case of timing and the staff are obliging if you're not happy with something. However join the Toby app and there are bargains to be had x2 carveries for £10.48 and other offers which you can have e-mailed to you .
