Love this museum! An inviting, comfortable space with a helpful curator- thank you Tamara! I took lots of photos so I could read the information again. Some displays are interactive, which is great for children. Having an interest in Pictish stones, I like their exploration of how those stones may have originally been painted. Wish I could have stayed longer today, I willl be back!

Very good small town museum covering the town's history right from stone age to WW2 via Romans, Jacobites etc. Maritime history section about fishing, whaling, naval etc. Natural history room with lots if stuffed birds & animals. Friendly welcoming staff, free to enter but we felt a donation was money well spent. Well worth a couple of hours.

I enjoyed this, it is quite a small museum. Upstairs there are displays relating to seafaring plus stuffed examples of local wildlife. Downstairs was a display by an Australian artist which was very interesting - this is only for a limited time.

Visited the Montrose Museum on a Saturday with my daughter (15 months). There is a lot of displays and information on local and Scottish history. We particularly enjoyed the wildlife displays and learning all about the different basin inhabitants.

Montrose museum is a small but well developed museum, one of the oldest dedicated museums in Britain according to the staff. Currently running a special exhibition on the Locarno dance hall from 50s and 60s. There is plenty of historical information and exhibits on Montrose and the surrounding areas. Not surprisingly much of it concerning the connection with the sea. Lots of historical information covering from pictish times to 20th century. Well worth an hour of anyone's time, the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable.
