Church of San Giorgio
Museum | Talamona | Lombardia | Italy
The Church of San Giorgio in Talamona, Lombardy, is a significant religious building with a rich history dating back to the 14th century. Originally equipped with only one altar, the church underwent an expansion in the 16th century with the construction of a side chapel dedicated to Saint Lawrence. This expansion was financed by Lorenzo Del Sertore, a wealthy citizen of Talamona, who not only oversaw the construction of the chapel but also provided resources to support the chaplain who would work there.
Over the centuries, the church underwent several renovations and expansions that shaped its architectural structure. Of particular note is the new chapel added in the 19th century, dedicated to Saint Lawrence and complementing the original chapel. This expansion was initiated by Don Vincenzo and Mario Albertella, contributing to the diversity of sacred artworks within the church.
