The Farmers' Museum at the Tschötscherhof in Kastelruth, a picturesque town in South Tyrol, offers a deep insight into the life of mountain farmers and woodworkers at the beginning of the 20th century. The Tschötscherhof, a farmhouse over 500 years old, houses this private museum, which was set up in collaboration with the Kastelruth Museum Association.
Inside the museum, which spans two floors, visitors will find a variety of exhibits documenting the rural life and work. These include everyday objects, household appliances, agricultural tools, as well as utensils for wool processing. These collections provide a vivid picture of the traditions and customs of the region.
The Tschötscherhof is not only a museum, but also an active farm that still processes wood for private use today. Additionally, a restaurant invites visitors to enjoy local specialties and participate in the traditional "Törggelen" in autumn, a custom where young wines and chestnuts are tasted.
A visit to the Farmers' Museum at the Tschötscherhof allows visitors to immerse themselves in the history and culture of South Tyrolean mountain farmers and experience the region's connection to its traditions.
