Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy

Vipiteno, a picturesque town in South Tyrol, offers visitors a variety of museums that reflect the rich history and culture of the region.

Multscher and Town Museum Vipiteno
This museum is located in the Deutschhaus, a former headquarters of the Teutonic Order, and houses the majority of the late Gothic altar by Hans Multscher from Ulm. The altar wings are considered one of the most important works of art in the southern German region and were created between 1456 and 1459 for the parish church "Our Lady in the Moss". In addition to the altar panels, the museum also displays imperial fiefs, confirmation documents, privileges, and regulations of various craft guilds, as well as seals, guild signs, and guild chests. The premises themselves are worth seeing and provide insight into the local history of the Teutonic Order.

Town Museum Vipiteno
The town museum is located in the historic building of the former Franciscan monastery and offers a comprehensive overview of the history of Vipiteno. The exhibitions include archaeological finds, artworks, and historical artifacts that document the city's development from antiquity to modern times. Particularly noteworthy is the collection of medieval sculptures and paintings that provide a deep insight into the art history of the region.

Mining Museum Ridnaun
Located just outside of Vipiteno, this museum provides a fascinating insight into the history of mining in the Ridnaun Valley. Visitors can tour the underground tunnels and learn more about the working conditions of miners. The museum also displays historical mining equipment and machinery that illustrate the development of mining techniques over the centuries.

These museums offer a deep insight into the history and culture of Vipiteno and are of interest to every visitor.
